Jesus

God Loves You!

Much has been written about Jesus and many are the beliefs and questions about who he was and what he did. While some have questioned the reliability of the gospels and whether Jesus was a real person, there is sufficient evidence to support both the fact that Jesus was a real, historical person, and that the gospels are reliable sources of information about Jesus' life, purpose, ministry, death and resurrection. If you have questions about the evidence for a historical Jesus or whether the gospels are reliable, check out Probe Ministries or Mark Robert's resources.

Below are just a few of the things the bible has to say about who Jesus is and the difference he can make in your life.

The Bible says Jesus is:

God:

  • "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:1
  • "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation." Colossians 1:15
  • "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form," Colossians 2:9
  • "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped," Philippians 2:5,6

Man:

  • "...being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man,..." Colossians 2:7,8
  • "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us." John 1:14
  • "This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God," 1 John 4:2

Creator:

  • "Through Him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." John 1:3
  • "For by him all things were created:... all things were created by him and for him." Colossians 1:16

Sustainer:

  • "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together." Colossians 1:17

Why Do You Need Jesus?

We are all sinners

  • "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
  • "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." 1 John 1:8

Christ takes away our sin

  • "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
  • "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly."  "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:6,8

Christ is the only way to God

  • "And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." 1 John 5:11,12
  • "Who is it that overcomes the world?  Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God." 1 John 5:5
